With a Post-Graduate Diploma in Strategic Marketing, I somehow ended up as a HR Manager for Tesco. It was midway through my Tesco career that I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and was eventually retired on ill-health grounds in 2011.
Keen to do something with my time and keep myself active and focussed, I set up an organisation called Positive About MS. So in 2010 I put my Marketing qualifications to use and used social media to launch my organisation.
The organisation was well received and now has a very healthy community. We really captured the imagination of the audience and are now on the cusp of charity status. Over the years I have also helped various charities/orgs with their social media and marketing.
This resulted in me setting up Soc-Med: Social Media; and thus far I have had the pleasure of working with some fantastic organisations and individuals in a field that I am passionate about and where I can deliver results.
I use my knowledge of Marketing and Social Media, together with my experiences gained with working with the UK's Number 1 retailer and running a non-profit organisation, Positive About MS, where I have built a community of 20,000.
